  8. First Time Use
  9. --------------
  10. The product ships with many predefined Reporters to give you many examples
  11. of how the product works. During the first on-line session, the Collection
  12. Agent will be collecting news and also test CompuServe's current news 
  13. structure. The first pass can take up to 25 minutes depending on the speed
  14. of the modem and the current load on the CompuServe network. Future 
  15. sessions will be much faster.

  18. Required Disk Space
  19. -------------------
  20. To install Rosebud, you must have 12MB of free disk space.  Refer below to 
  21. the "Saving Space" section.

  24. Rosebud Email Retrieval is Disabled
  25. -----------------------------------
  26. Since most users already have a program like WinCIM to retrieve Email and 
  27. we didn't want to force users to use Rosebud's Email interface, we ship 
  28. Rosebud with the feature of retrieving Email disabled. But, Rosebud can 
  29. send mail at any time. To turn on Email retrieval, start the Assignment 
  30. Desk and select the mail icon and click on the Change button. Uncheck the 
  31. box next to "Disable Mail Retrieval" and Rosebud will now gather your 
  32. Email.

  35. First Time and NO WinCIM installed
  36. ----------------------------------
  37. This product looks for CIS.INI in the CSERVE directory to know how to 
  38. access CompuServe. If you don't have WinCIM installed, you will have to 
  39. setup this CIS.INI for ROSEBUD to be able to access CompuServe. To perform 
  40. this task you need to run the Assignment Desk and select the CompuServe 
  41. icon and click on the change button. Then select the "Edit settings..." 
  42. button and change the session information to reflect your CIS User ID, 
  43. password, Modem, etc. Select Help while on this panel if you need more 
  44. information.

  47. Rosebud Quick Start Guide
  48. -------------------------
  49. The file called RBQSTART.WRI in the program directory is a Microsoft Write 
  50. file that contains the Rosebud Quick Start Guide. The most current version 
  51. is available from our forum on CompuServe. GO MAGEE will take you to our 
  52. forum. You can also find an Adobe Acrobat version of the file in our forum 
  53. as well.

  58. There is an additional Reference guide in Adobe Acrobat format in our forum 
  59. called ROSEREF.PDF. This large separate guide gives details available as in

  65. The file called ROSEFAQ.WRI in the program directory is a Microsoft Write 
  66. file that contains commonly asked questions and answers. It is a very 
  67. helpful resource. The most current version is available from our forum on

  71. Rosebud and Windows NT
  72. ----------------------
  73. This is a 16-bit application and works fine under Windows NT. But, it will
  74. not work correctly if you change the default on the option "Run is 
  75. separate memory space".  This option should be UNCHECKED.

  78. Rosebud and Windows 95
  79. ----------------------
  80. This is a 16-bit application and works fine under Windows 95. But, if you
  81. need to uninstall ROSEBUD, the uninstall utility provided might not erase
  82. the directories Rosebud created due to the fact Windows 95 places some
  83. hidden files in the directory structure of Rosebud. You can finish the
  84. uninstall process by deleting the directories or folders using Explorer.

  87. Rosebud and Networks
  88. --------------------
  89. You can't install this version of Rosebud on a Network Drive. If you need 
  90. this feature please contact our sales department at 770-446-6611.  
  91. However, Rosebud does support Network modems through INT14.

  95. ------------
  96. The pager module will be shipping October 15, 1995 or earlier.

  99. User Guide in Adobe Acrobat Format
  100. ----------------------------------
  101. The most current versions of the User's Guides are available as Adobe 
  102. Acrobat files named RBQSTART.PDF and ROSEREF.PDF in Section 6 in our forum 
  103. on CompuServe. GO MAGEE will take you to our forum. If you need a copy of 
  104. the Adobe Acrobat Viewer for Windows you can find a copy on CompuServe in 
  105. our forum. The reader is free except for connect charges when downloading.

  108. Saving Space
  109. ------------
  110. Below is a list of DLLs that are located in the program directory. This 
  111. list of DLL's are commonly used by other applications and could be shared 
  112. by moving them to the Windows System directory.  Move them only if they
  113. have a newer file date than the existing one.  THESE SHOULD ONLY BE MOVED 
  114. BY EXPERIENCED WINDOW'S USERS.

  130. To save more disk space, you may also want to delete (or move off to floppy
  131. disks) the Windows Write files (*.WRI) and the files in the UNINSTAL 
  132. directory.  Doing this, you can save up to about 3MB of disk space.

  135. Share not loaded
  136. ----------------
  137. Rosebud requires SHARE.EXE or VSHARE.386. Rosebud will produce an error 
  138. message if SHARE is not loaded. If you need help setting up Share, please
  139. contact Technical Support.
